Author Guidelines

Milky Way Scientific Journal (MWSJ) publishes peer-reviewed, open-access manuscripts that demonstrate originality, clarity, and academic rigor.

Manuscript Types (only two)

  • Research Article (original research)

  • Review Article (systematic or narrative)

Originality & Prior Dissemination

MWSJ considers work only if it has not been disseminated previously in any form, including conference abstracts/posters/papers/talks, preprints (arXiv, SSRN, ResearchGate, institutional/personal sites), or public repositories. Simultaneous submission elsewhere is not allowed.

Formatting (use the MWSJ template)

  • Title: ≤20 words, bold 14 pt, centered

  • Authors: full names, 10 pt, centered

  • Affiliations & emails: under authors, 9 pt

  • Abstract: 150–200 words, placed before main text

  • Keywords: 3–5 terms, alphabetical order

  • Body font & spacing: Times New Roman, 10 pt, double-spaced

  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides

  • Page numbers: centered at footer

  • Numbers: spell out one to ten unless technical (e.g., 5%, 7 kg)

Headings (recommended)

Use a clear hierarchy (e.g., 1., 1.1, 1.1.1) or APA-style headings consistently.

Equations

Number consecutively (Eq. 1, Eq. 2) right-aligned; define symbols on first use.

Tables & Figures

  • Tables: title above the table; notes below.

  • Figures: caption below the image.

  • Supply high-quality files (≥300 dpi; vector formats preferred for line art).

  • Cite each table/figure in the text and ensure permissions for any third-party content.

Units

Use SI units; give conversions where helpful.

  • Author Contributions (e.g., CRediT roles)

  • Data Availability Statement

  • Conflict of Interest Disclosure

File Preparation & Anonymity (double-blind)

Upload two files:

  1. Manuscript (anonymized) — no author names/affiliations/acknowledgments/identifiers in text or metadata.

  2. Title page — title, all authors, affiliations, corresponding author email, ORCID (optional), funding & COI statements.

Submission file format: Microsoft Word .docx using the official template.

Citation & Referencing Style (hybrid)

  • In-text citations: numbered in square brackets — e.g., [1], [2–4], [5,7,9] — placed before the period.

  • Reference list: APA 7th formatting, alphabetical by first author, with hanging indent 0.2"; include DOI as plain text (DOI: 10.xxxx/...) when available (no live hyperlinks).

In-text example:
Graph neural networks have shown strong performance in pharmacological interaction modeling [3,7].

Reference-list examples (APA 7th format):

  • Article: Smith, J., & Lee, K. (2023). Title of the paper. Journal Name, 12(3), 123–145. DOI: 10.1234/abcd.2023.001

  • Book: Miller, R. (2021). Methods in Data Science (2nd ed.). Publisher.

Because the list is alphabetical APA-style (not numeric order), the number assigned to each reference corresponds to its alphabetical position. If you add/remove sources, renumber the in-text brackets to match the updated list.

Peer Review & Timeline

All submissions undergo editorial screening followed by double-blind peer review by at least two experts. Typical first-round review time is 2–4 weeks; decisions: accept, minor revision, major revision, reject. Revisions require a point-by-point response.

License & Access

Accepted articles are published open access under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). Non-commercial sharing of the published PDF is allowed with citation and a link to the article page; redistribution of adaptations/derivatives (including translated versions for redistribution) is not permitted.

How to Submit

Submit via the online system with the anonymized manuscript, title page, and all required declarations.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements:

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines

  • Manuscript type: This submission is a Research Article or a Review Article (only these two are accepted).

  • Originality & exclusivity: The work has not been previously published, is not under consideration elsewhere, and has not been disseminated as preprints or conference outputs (no abstracts, posters, papers, or talks).

  • Anonymized files: The manuscript is anonymized for double-blind review; a separate title page includes authors, affiliations, corresponding author email, funding, and COI statements.

  • Ethics & disclosures: Required ethics approvals (if applicable), funding, and conflicts of interest are included. All co-authors approve the final version.

  • Formatting & template: The MWSJ template is used (Times New Roman 10 pt, double-spaced, 1" margins, page numbers).

  • Figures/Tables & permissions: All figures/tables are numbered, cited in text, and supplied at publication quality; permissions for any third-party content (photos, datasets, etc.) are obtained.

  • References: In-text citations are numbered [e.g., 1, 2–4]; the reference list follows APA 7th, is alphabetical with 0.2" hanging indent, and includes DOIs as plain text where available.

  • Data statement: A Data/Materials Availability statement is provided (or a justification for restrictions).

  • License: Authors agree to publication under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.

This section includes peer-reviewed, full-length research articles, review papers, and interdisciplinary studies from all accepted fields, including but not limited to:

- Finance, Economics, and Accounting  
- Business Administration and Management  

This section accepts original research manuscripts that present novel findings and have not been published elsewhere. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by at least two qualified experts.
